it has begun.

Many thanks to Chris and Andrew for spec'ing these. I can't wait to hear them!!
If you are reading this there is a good chance you are planning on building one or two. Hopefully reading this will give you an idea or two to save time or a mistake.

In the original thread, page 16 i belive, there is a cut sheet layout. It worked great. take it to home depot and get them to break the sheet(s) down into quarter sheets based on the dimensions. add at least 1/8" for every saw kerf and a 1/4" or so to allow you to square the sheets since some of the box stores panel saws are off by a little...or a lot. building square boxes requires square parts. sounds simple enough. Use a large framing square to check your corners. the FACTORY edges of the plywood can normally be trusted to be square, and luckily, cutting the sheets in quarters leaves you a square factory piece on each 1/4. mark those corners to remind you to use them on the tablesaw.

i'll add some pics shortly

Bondo works really well for that kind of thing. You could just bondo the whole thing with a trowel and sand and paint it...

for those Chris/Andrew or who have built these. I have a little more ridgid insulation. i have already covered the large brace (16 1/4"x21) with 4" of material. would there be any advantage to putting more on the sides or is enough enough?

thanks!

I do hope you realize those extra holes in your binding post plates will need to be sealed over and completely air tight if you havent done that already ;)

yah, i caulked the snot out of them, then emailed the seller and gave him a few choice words...he was willing to take them back but a picture like i showed would have spared me from buying them. actually they worked out ok... no one will ever see them, but yours are definitely prettier!!
