May 27th the first season of the 1967 classic sci-fi TV show "THE INVADERS" (always folowed by "A Quinn Martin production"), starring Roy Thinnes as an architect that witnesses a UFO landing and the implications that follow, this TV show has been ripped off countless of times, but there's nothing like the original.

I remember having the Aurora model of one of the alien flying saucers. You could take the top off and it showed the interior rooms complete with little tiny plastic men.

I think we poured lighter fluid on it and tossed a lit firecracker into it.

:D

I thought I was the only one that did that, again models were much cheaper then.:D By the way do you know how much one of those Aurora models are worth? I have an Aurora (re-issued) model of the saucer from Forbidden Planet, still un-opened, I've seen it for 200.00+ I think I paid, maybe, 40.00.

The kits or the models themselves?

Because I had the original Enterprise. The original Seaview. That Invaders ship. The Munster Mobile. The Creature from the Black Lagoon.

I coulda been rich!

And my son wonders why I yell at him for not taking care of his stuff.

The kits in unopened boxes are the most desirable, followed by opened, but complete kits, lastly built models. An expert built model, if it's the right subject and detailed properly can cost major bucks. I had the Seaview.

Ah yes, the spiritual antecedent to the X Files. As I recall, when you killed one of "THEM" you were only certain that they were aliens when they evaporated. Weird show. I will have to check it out.

When I was a kid, this show would freak me out. They would burn up and usually leave a scorch mark where they evaporated.

The idea of being the only person who knows something scary is pretty much my definition of severe paranoia. Once you know, you are a target. The "Others" only have the choice to eliminate you or marginalize you so you end up being the weird guy who never comes out of the apartment that has its windows covered with aluminum foil. The Invaders played this angle really well, as did the X Files.
