So with a lack of things to do over the last couple months I decide to take up a hobby. After a lot of slave labor for money and drywall I am almost done with my home theater (considering I move into a dorm in less than a year). Only thing left is blackout curtains and that comes on Tuesday. So here it is...

Onkyo TX-SR502 Reciever
-Speakers
Front Left: Kenwood HT Speaker
Front Center: Kenwood HT Speaker
Front Right : Kenwood HT Speaker:
Rear Left: Bose 2.2 Bookshelf + Pioneer Left Surround
Rear Center (Left): Kenwood Left Surround
Rear Center (Right): Kenwood Right Surround
Rear Right: Bose 2.2 Bookshelf + Pioneer Right Surround
LFE: Kenwood HT Powered 8" Sub
-Monitors
Quasar 32" TV
BenQ PB7100 DLP Projector (to a 82" Screen)
-Componenets
DishNet 811 HD Reciever w/ Phillips OTA Antenna for Local HD
RJTech 800DVX DVD Player
GeForce 6200 w/ Component 1080i Out (to the computer)
Turtle Beach Catalina 7.1 Soundcard w/ Optical Out

You are on your way. At that rate, you'll have $150,000 invested in A/V by the time your 35. ;)

It looks like you're handy with drywall (sheetrock). So what are you going to do when you move into a dorm? Start all over? :)

I'd have to say that is a pretty phenomenal setup, regardless of age. I've been a music fan since I was a pre-teen and I didn't even have anything approaching a real system until I got out of college and got a job. The only downside to such a nice setup early in life is that you will suffer from a long bout with upgradeitis as you earn more and can't resist the urge to buy more stuff. :)

If I were going to upgrade your system, I would start with the speakers. They have the most affect on the acoustics (next to the room itself) and I'm sure you could do better than Kenwood [not 'dissing them but Kenwood isn't generally known for their speakers]

Yeah, whenever I get some more money that doesn't need to be used, I'll probably get some nicer speakers, but they were free so you can't beat the price. But for now, I'm going to in stall Aura Bass shakers in my couch.

And I have to move into a dorm because I start college next year. So that will be a task getting everything in there, and I will make one sweet roomate.

I would systematically replace the speakers a set at a time...
That way they are timbre matched. For a tight budget take a listen to Athena and JBL.

Overall superb start.

The Asus Vento is beautiful, I mean they could have chipped in a couple more bucks on the front door, but overall it is a very good case.

So I've gotten a lot of stuff lately, I should probably update.

the Dish 811 is out replaced by the Dish Vip211 mpeg4 (yum)
I got an older pioneer amp to run 3 aura bass shackers in the couch.
I got two KLH 3-way floor speakers hooked up in the front
I got rid of the Bose rear channels and now just have the pioneer speakers in the rear.
And finally added a 200 CD Changer (Kenwood) so I can play my DTS CDs

That is about everything that I added inside. Outside I just built a massive 16'x8' screen for Outdoor Movie Nights, more on that to come. Watched T2 on it this weekend and froze my but off (it was like 30 degrees), but come April I will relax in the pool and watch a movie. My friend is letting me borrow his PA system (two peavey 12" monitors and a 1200 watt phonics amp) for the summer to use with it so it shall wake the neighbors.
