I finally got some time to go to a Best Buy in Tucson today and let me say, I will never go back there again. This one also included a Magnolia which was nice with it's MLs, Bostons, Def Tec, etc. but they only had 2 subs in the entire store! What kind of selection is that?
Well didn't stick around there for long except to check out the Pionner Elite models with my own eyes, not too shabby.
Got in the main store and bee-lined it to the speakers as I wanted to hear the Klipsh RF-35 to get an idea on what the HT-75s will sound like with the horn tweeter. Well, they didn't have any rf-35, closest thing was the Klipsch Synergy III V-2. It was all contected to a central reciever(POS Sony) and dvd player that you couldn't adjust. Mine you this is in an aisle, they didn't have any listening rooms beside the ones in Magnolia, not even Bose.
I turned it up and started listening to some Classical that was already playing. Not even a minute into it one of the fine employees comes right up and doesn't even say a word to me and hits the volume down button!
He then ask me if there is anything he can help me with and I say, "Well not now" and leave. Now mine you, the store was crazy with holiday shoppers and by no means did I have the volume anywhere near reference. I just wanted to hear what a damn horn tweeter sounded like!
P.S- from the brief listening period I found the set to be quite enjoyable and now feel better finally getting to listen to them before buying the Acoustechs. Especially after seeing the $335 per speaker tag!
P.S.S- they didn't have any Acends either, I really wanted to hear want all the hype was about.
