the future of 7.1 descrete

7.1 descrete decoding

So i know there is no 7.1 descrete, at least yet. i have a sony str-de697 which is a 7.1 receiver that i have matrixed. Its got DDex dtsse 24/96 and i think it sounds pretty good, tho im not really experienced enough to tell. Anyway the real queastion i have is when 7.1 decrete does hit the market will my reciever be able to decode the 6th and 7th channels descretely or will it need some new decoder similar to the dd-EX and dts-ES

I'm pretty sure we'll all need a new decoder when/if the new format becomes available. I just wonder how quickly they'll make the titles availabe. They still aren't really producing all that many 6.1 titles.

Yep. A new processor or receiver is in your future.

... unless your receiver has 7.1 analog inputs and your source will decode it that is. I don't think too many have this feature but I could be wrong.

Aside from a few audio nuts (whis includes many at this site and others like it), most of the buying public is quite satisfied with 5.1 and, considering my room size and the fact that I must put furniture in it for people, not sound, I'm among them.

How many speakers vcan one place properly in a room and still live there?

well the reason im so intrested is that i have a diaganal room setup and 7 speakers fit quite nicely and though funds are lacking i am an audio nut, with really not enough experience to say im am but give me time and a steady job , i'll make u all proud.

Basiclly my setup couldn't even work without at least a 6th speakers so i bought 7. even tho the back 2 are matrixed it sounds wonderfull, good enough to close my eyes and sence objects flying around the room. Im not a clearity nut just a spacial nut which mean and extra channal wlould make me quite happy.

Looks like ill just be upgrading when the time comes thanx for the replays.
