Want to watch that new Blu-ray movie on your custom built PC at full resolution? Sorry, retail graphics cards won't be able to do that; only OEM-built computers from Dell, Sony, HP and the like will have that functionality built in."

Now if DVD-HD goes the other way, IMHO, it will ensure them top billing.

Incredibly few people watch DVDs on their computers or have a HTPC. Of all the issues regarding the high def DVD formats, this is probably the most meaningless.

Agreed. My HTPC (working on it) is for games, and non mainstream formats (divx, xvid, kvcd, etc).

I will buy a blue ray player because it will be leaps and bounds better then a computer.

Any device that will not play friendly with the digital home front will be an issue, to think it wont is short sighted. If I were to sink $$$ into a media center etc only too find out my new BlueRay wont stream HD to it because of DRM I would not be a happy camper if I was trying to record.

Technology changes quite rapidly. Considering the BD players aren't even on the market (to compete with HTPC) I would not think this was even a mildly significant snag.

Believe me, with Intel's ViiV technology and Microsoft looming, HDCP will be enabled in time for the newer HTPC products and grapghics solutions. There may be some interim grapghics cards to accomplish this, but they'll do what they need to do to make it happen.
