The case for deducting large HT purchases from your tax returns

Good week everyone, it appears that I have a new proposal for legislatures to adopt and its not as silly or not as new to suggest

Regulated qualified brands of home theater equipment that meet certain standards or frequency respone, price/performance value, use of proper crossovers that aren't cheap unlike some manufactureres that have no crossover, meet safety and non-snake oil rules should be tax deductible.

Its like your home mortage interestsm and home equity loans that can only be used to take out purchases. First, there needs to be regulation to prevent snake oil claims ((lawsuits anyone against those snake oil companies- cables), second price/performance value by measuring output and so on is great. Kinda like buying svs, hsu, veloydyne subs. Bose needs to be excluded.

Okay here are the benefits of a proper, equalized, set up:

The HT needs to be expensive but be of great value, some cheap LCD with big speakers aint gonna cut it.

A Home theater atleast 5k in audioholics reference series would be a great start.

1: The idea was that lesiure time benefits American economies and socities. Just as after-school activities benefit people in inner-city communites to prevent crime, this would be exellent!, The idea of cable tv preventing crime by having teenagers leisure time and fun rather than hanging on the streets in the 1980's and so on is sucessfful. I've notice many successful african americans use cable-tv who were borin the 1950's.

A home theater: Stablizes families by providing the "IN at the movies experience" more than some religious law proposal directing at family structure

Education benefit: Learning about acoustical princiapls and video such as contrast ratio, frequency response, woofers and tweeters, resoance frequency, bass traps, and hardwood floors, 4 ohms and 8 ohms, various inputs, etc

should be taught in schools. I am proposing a tax credit for people who take CERTIFIED acoustical and video engineering courses. But also to those who buy the equipment and Use it, ie school AND experience.

3. The Sociology aspect: Friends coming to watch movies unexpectedly, learning new things about HT, playing music with strong bass, and everything boosts social skills, makes a person work hard and feel self-worth by Learning HOURS AND WORKING HOURS to build a HT. One doesnt have to think too much about class divide.

4. An example of technology and transition to 1st world countries:

Japan is evident in its development of DENON, yamaha, sony and their receivers and electronics which made transition to a poor country to a wealthy one. Teaching people to love and enjoy high quality, sound and video is great for everything from video conferencing, entertianment, and things that can greatly improve disenfranchised or let down people in poor countries lives.

5. The case for the American Dream of a 10k-20k proper snake oil free home theater with excellent projectors, spekers, subwoofers, and tv's that have ISF certication and audyessey multi-eq is very much indeed.

Indeed people who attend performances in metropolitan areas such as nyc need to thank those in the audio control room to enjoy themselves and those with projectors. Why, for the experience and entertainment is crucial in peoples lives. It is an HT because your neighbors don't want to hear your music and you can live in tranquility.

Why does music relax us? well building a better HT will do it more and avoid the need for deafness.

By- Propering MAKING SOUND SOUND GREAT, One not need Wear Cheap headphones that make people deaf. Understaning closed v. open headphones, spl rolloffs, the idea of sound hitting the air, and so on can reduce the chances of people losing their hearing in the young generation.

Need I say more, The Time for High -End snake oil free HT tax deduction is finally needed. While it isnt a clear-all it has a wide capability- if you are indeed an audio/video holic and not some casual person.!

I'll vote for that tax break:)

Unfortunately for us...... too many politicians currently in power will oppose any such tax break:mad:

If anything..... they'd push for a Luxury Tax to be imposed on such purchases given the opportunity.

I do, however, like the way you think:D

Actually people who have an business office can deduct it already

I was watching on MSN video,

This guy was videotaping wills for his client,

BIG SCREEN TV'S, FURNITURE,ETC Were ALL TAX-DEDUCTIBLE!

even cat feed is tax deductible if it keeps vermins around (away from an office) according to analyst at H&R BLOCK.

Maybe if its an IN-ALL HOME THEATER, politicians can help us tax deduct it, as it is considered built into the home.

Oh ya and this office was just considered a part of his house, I wonder if clint and gene get tax breaks for HT if they have a business.

Hey Clint how do you dedcut all those equipment, curious

How do you get all your HT parts deductible, is it because you use it for your CD Media business?

Are there limits to deductions?

I notice gene build a $200,000 system- for his reference zone was it all tax deductible.

You say that ALL YOUR purchases are deductible?
Including ones for personal use, how is that possible?
You can PM me if you wish.

Maybe we should all do that, deduct hundreds of thousands of dollars of HT equipment.

Sure sure Clint. All for "Business Use" right? Man I have got to see if I can claim that. I sell HT equipment for a living. That system in my livingroom should be considered a tool.

Hopefully no one from the IRS reads these threads.

Homer: (Wearing an FBI listening device.) Hey, see you're watching the ball game. Looks like a good one. Any of you involved in any illegal activity? Cause I could sure go for some. How bout you, Lenny? Testing, testing. Lenny?

Lenny: You saying you want to commit a crime, Homer?

Homer: Maybe. But first I need to hear about some other crimes to get me fired up.

Carl: You mean like the time you was running moonshine out of your basement?

Barney: Or that telemarketing scam you pulled?

Homer: Uh . . . like those, but involving you.

Moe: Oh, you mean like the time Barney beat up George Bush?

Homer: Barney!? That was me! And I'd do it again.

Charlie: Why stop there, Homer? My militia has a secret plan to beat up all sorts of government officials. That'll teach them to drag their feet on high definition TV!

FBI Agent: You're under arrest for conspiracy!

Moe: How'd they finger Charlie? Somebody must have ratted him out.

Homer: Oh, that's ridiculous, Moe. End transmission.
