I thought it was about time to update my HT photos.

I have posted pictures before, but my HT continues to cosmetically evolve. Since my last posting, I've changed my window coverings and hung black media drapes that are black to the noon-day sun...LOL, hung 5 movie posters, painted a couple doors black, along with a few other cosmetic changes :)
The main electronic components have not changed. All room treatments were provided by GIK Acoustics.
TV-65" Mitsubishi
Receiver-Yamaha RXV-2500
Mains-Klipsch RF-82 towers
Surrounds-Klipsch RF-52 towers
Center-Klipsch RC-62
Subwoofer-SVS PB12-Plus/2
Small wallmount speakers for backs
There are lots of other details, but that's the main stuff.

Nothing has changed from this view.

The view of the left side of the theater is a little different with the newly hung posters, the black door, and new window coverings. I want to hang a clock above the left surround, but I have yet to find something I like. If I dont find anything soon, I may just hang another poster. The poster you cannot read in the hallway is "Cars".

This is the right side of the theater.

This gives a good perspective of the screen from the side angle, the newly blackened door, the acoustic panels, and seating in relation to it all.

The back right corner is a busy corner.

It's loaded with bass traps, the SVS PB12-Plus2 subwoofer, the new pitch black drapes, and a Klipsch tower. The Incredibles poster is an irregular size. It's a UK-style 40x30 size.

These are the posters that hang in the hallway. The process of change is never ending!! It's amazing how different the room can look after a few changes.

This is just a view that better shows the "Cars" poster that you couldnt see in the other photo, and a closer shot of "Pirates". I've done a bunch of little detail stufff besides painting doors and hanging posters. The black air vent is one example:)

Ahhh..... It's always fun to make changes!!

I'm loving the wall colours. Looks like a terrific room to setup this theatre.

Yeah, I hear those are a bit heavy to lift up. How about painting it black (living vicariously through others since there's no way I could do that to my own theater room)!

It's a basement. That's an air duct he's drywalled around over the door. When you go to build a house next time, always get an extra block or two in the basement (if you have basements in your area). I had to put up 1x2 furring strips and drywall directly to those strips rather than a drop ceiling in mine due to the low ceiling.

The room looks great, Buckeye Nut. Now for those leather Lane reclining couches. ;)

Looks great BuckeyeNut! You may have already done so in another thread but could you comment on the impact of the treatments, especially with the bass? Even with careful placement boomy bass at a some frequencies is an issue in both my 5.1 system and 2.1 system.

B Nut, nice setup and I really like that Incredibles poster. I'd also like to hear what improvement the sound traps provided.

B Fan, nice game room. If that door is a standard height that's a low ceiling! Do you turn into a Hobbit when you enter the room? ;)

The second photo is a standard door (by the QB toss game). It is a low ceiling - 7'3" to be exact. That's why I couldn't do a drop ceiling. I kept the colors light to make the room feel larger. You really can't tell it's a low ceiling when you're down there. I just wish the original owners would have tossed in an extra $750 for an extra few blocks. The crawl space could have been dug out for $1500, but they opted not to do that, either. That would have been an excellent HT room - it's 13x17.

Thanks for the kind words. BNut - I'm betting your ceiling is also around 7' - right?

Nice pic's on all counts

What the hay, I'm 6'4" and have those issues in my basement as well. I just put the sofa and otterman at the lowest points and still have head room to get up. My only beef is the DAMN TOYS ALL OVER THE FLOOR!!
I share my H/T with the little ones :)

I'm 6'3", my ht ceiling is 7'1"...and I haven't bumped my head yet...nor has my bass bottomed out yet. As long as you're not ducking and bobbing like a middleweight in a ring, and the acoustics are good...who cares? Looks like a nice room...good job, and enjoy Buckeyefan 1!

(P.S. The industry calls them twelve and thirteen course walls (12 x 8" + 8'0"). Cheers.

I did......wouldn't recommend it.

Makes the room soooo dark. It will absorb all the light in the room.

Besides, it took one coat of primer and four coats of black just to get where it is now. And it STILL could use another coat! And let's not talk about upkeep. Just touch or buff flat black once and you have to touch it up.

(I feel sorry for the next owner who wants to paint over flat black, well maybe not. Their problem ;) )

Buckeye....beautiful setup! I have been keeping up with all of your room treatments and remember you telling me that treatments would certainly help out in my room. Just today I received my GIK Tri-Traps from FedEx and placed them in the front corners late this evening ... I hope you don't mind me sharing a photo of the Tri-Traps in place on your thread, I am pleased with the results and thanks for the recommendation!

It's an 8ft ceiling, except for the ductwork which hangs down 14". I'd rather they they dug down 14 more inches, but we werent involved in the build process.

I would love to paint the ceiling black, but it has a rough popcorn finish(thats what the wife calls it). The ceiling is drywall(not a drop ceiling). It would be a pain to paint, but I agree that black would be sweet. We'd have to buy paint guns and spray it on.

Rick,
Those tri's look great!!

You are definitely headed down the right path, and Im glad my comments helped. You'll no doubt have fun re-listening to things for the very first time with the Tri's in place. At the least, I would also recommend hanging a 244 behind your big center speaker just above your tv. A panel there will really make a difference. Welcome to the land of clairity & the acoustically treated:cool:

For those asking how the GIK panels have impacted my theater? Wow, I dont even know where to begin because the differences were rather obvious, and there were so many of them. I've also discussed these changes quite a bit on the 'treatments' page that you can read. Every little bit helps, and as Rick will testify, you dont have to do the entire room to make an impact.

These are a couple of obvious changes I noticed......

For starters, dialog is noticably clearer. The improvement is most obvious is during movie segments where all hell is breaking loose in a scene. Have you ever noticed that sometimes dialog gets buried in all the action?? Maybe you find yourself adjusting volume levels because of a scene? You'll be amazed how clear dialog remains regardless of what's happening in a scene. In fact, I didnt I had a problem until after it was fixed. I just assumed that my acoustically challened sound was the way that it was supposed to sound. Oh boy, was I ever wrong. Also, are you one of those who complain of harshness of sound or listener fatique, etc, etc, etc?? While it's true that the speakers are to blame for some of that but not all. Bad room acoustics are equally to blame!!! Fix the problems, and you'll be amazed how the harshness vanishes. Even if you dont notice the harshness now, you're gonna really enjoy your sound once it's gone.
LOL

At the low end, the sound comes across cleaner, more controlled, and less overbearing. Do you ever feel like the loud bass segments are too loud relative to the rest of the soundtrack? Do those segments sometimes overpower and bury everything else? Have you ever listened to big speakers blasting in a garage?
Trust me, I have!!

LOL, and it literally echoes & blasts you out of the room in a horrible boomy kind of way!!

Every carpeted & furnished room has that very same effect taking place, and the panels and traps literally suck that stuff you dont want right out of the room. (excuse my technical terminology)
Because it's not as obvious inside your home, many dont even know they have a problem. However, once it's fixed, there will be little doubt that something very noticable has changed in a very good way. The bass will be clearer, cleaner, & tighter without the boominess. You'll be amazed at how everything from the highs, dialog, and low content all becomes cleaner and crisper than before, and at how much better a room can sound. A subwoofer cannnot go any lower in a treated room, but it will seem that way once the unwanted noise is no longer masking the good sound.

For me, the room upgrade has by far made the largest improvement(dollar-per-dollar) of any single upgrade I have ever made. Experiencing the difference was an epiphany.

There are a ton of places selling posters on the web.
http://www.movieposter.com/

This one is my favorite because of their selection, and because I liked their search function and how I could navigate the site. You can search and sort by price, original or reprint, by size, etc, etc, etc. They shipped fast too:)

A word of warning on reprints.....
They dont usually come in the standard sizes. IE... instead of the standard 27x40 size, it might be 26.5x38.5. Of course, that's no big deal until you drop it into a 27x40 frame.
LOL

I bought all originals because they'll fit my frames perfectly without having to mess around.
