This one's a novelty, just arrived from Australia. "Boys" is like a chick-flick for Aussie guys. Clive Owen is a recently widowed single dad/sportswriter with one young troubled son and another teen son from a previous marriage who shows up at the door from England. As he explores his relationships with his deceased wife's parents and a possible girlfriend, he also grieves his wife (who sometimes shows up in his mind to offer advice) and tries to heal his young son.
It's quite well done and unique to me. This film focuses on feelings and relationships in a way that's completely gender reversed from the way these sort of flix usually are. The filmmaker seemed to go out of the way to portray Owen's character as an unshaven, heavy drinking, messy slob with a good heart. I guess this makes it certain to the audience that he's not gay. I can see this as a double feature with The Wrestler, that rare tearjerker for guys. It's excellently filmed and acted, with believable characters, recommended if you're looking for something different from the usual fare.
