The Birdcage Theatre

Actually, I have a bird in a cage...
but I also recall a bird cage theatre in TOmbstone Az...
Kind of rustic, much like my new basement HT

Its a work in progress, but I do have a couple of pics to
share...

the wife is helping me with red velveteen curtains, and I am going to stain and paint a dark brown on walls, paneling, and even ceiling...

Trapps, are in the plans as well for sound treatment... the floor, one half wall, and the back wall are concrete... the screne wall has a 3.5 inch gap between paneling and concrete...

thanks for looking I will add component lists later
thanks for looking

Ummm

The theater looks like a great start, and I think it's a good idea, but um, do you realize that "the birdcage" is, albiet a wonderful, but gay movie??

You're well on your way to a great HT, and at the stage where you can really turn that room into a true theater.

......Birdcage, that black-and-white picture with Star War colors on the screen is nothing but neat....it reminds me of Schindler's List with the red-headed little girl....it appears you have a great room to work with....

more added

Since the last image, I've painted walls, added a nice subwoofer, and worked on some curtains...or the wife has... its coming nicely... the darkened walls really help...the speakers are invisible now, while viewing...
and all the while, continueing to study the new owners manual for the a/v receiver

p.s.

oh, I also lowered the screen six inches, which improves center speaker screen relationship, as well as gives me room for curtains over the screen and improves the angle in the room some...

new fan

Today, my temp indicator came on, and the projector shut down... I had a fire going in the woodburner which is only about 10 feet away, and it was heating up the ceiling. With the Panni set to hi fan, the recomend that ambient temps not exceed 95F...but in normal mode you can get away with 104F I believe. I guess the fan is on full time in normal mode..
Anyway, to move the rising heat from the ceiling, I installed a fan I had out back, mounting it upside down and to the ceiling... I also cleaned out a rather dirty filter as well... I think that needs to be a weekly task as well...

Nice looking set up there, I've always wanted a projector, but they're so damn pricy...

Thanks... I am awaiting my rebate on the projector... I think it will end up costing me $1400 after rebate. The screen was another $400 and then about $300 worth of cables and a $50 mount puts it at about $2150... That's cheaper than most plasma sets, and it's 100 inches across!

.....BirdCage, projectors are at an angle above the screen as they project to the screen....do you find any part of the picture not focused as well as another part?.....
