 I have a Pioneer DVD player with SACD/DVD Audio, Yamaha 1600 Receiver and Rotel thx Amp and also Paradigm Studio 20 speakers. My question I want to ask is when I Caliabrate the system with the YPAO (automatically) Nice feature, the test tones comes from the front speakers at the same time!!!.??
The amp is connected to the Yammy by the pre-out connection. The speakers are bi-wired to the Yammy and the Rotel Amp. What I am doing wrong? The tweets are connected to the Yammy and mid-range (bass) is connected to the Amp. Or should I not bother with the amp at all and just go with the Yammy for everything, but how do you connect the bi-wiring with the Yammy?? A + B speakers or what other channel can I use instead?? Still a newbie. Thanks for any help you can lend.

While I'm at, where can I buy speaker wire and what brand should I use for the Front speakers (bi-wiring) with banana ends???? THX YOU

Nice setup

It sounds like you have put together a great system.
Not sure the model on the Rotel amp, but it should have plenty or power and more than the Yamaha for powering both the highs and lows of your speakers. Unless the amp has a volume control, you can't bi-amp using the receiver and external amp because you cannot match the SPL level of the highs and lows. Also, different performance characteristics of different amplifiers make this undesirable. Connect the receivers preouts to the rotel, run the auto or manual setup, and enjoy.

Feel free to read a few AH articles on the subject, but there is no performance benefit to biwiring. It effectively increases the gauge of the speaker wire. I would recommend Belden 5000UP speaker wire from westlake electronic. Buy some banannas and techflex to dress it up. Buy the 4 conductor version to biwire or biamp. It is also suitable for in-wall wiring.

So to make sure I understand, from the receiver pre-outs (fronts) go to the Rotel 980 (model) I think?? Then the highs to the receiver. Right
If I wanted to just use the Yammy, I use the front channel and what do I use for the channels.. Not sure about this.. Thanks for all your help..Awesome.

Speaker connections

Here is my recommendation:
* Connect receiver front pre-outs to Rotel using RCA connections.
* Connect Rotel binding posts to each speaker (highs and lows) using a single set of speaker wires (2-wires for each speaker, no biwiring).
* No connection to the front speaker outputs of the receiver. Use the Rotel OR the receiver to power the fronts, but not BOTH.
