Testing speaker wires

I don't think my woofer is getting any current. How do I test the inside speaker wires for a signal with a multimeter? Set multimeter to "Amps"?

Altho a look inside and making sure connections otherwise are in place might be a good idea, too....

Woofer in what? A sub or a speaker?

9V battery will tell you if it the voice coil is burnt = dead driver. It actually works with a AA battery too.

While you can measure voltage with the meter connected in parallel, you will need to connect it in series in order to measure current. In other words, disconnect one of the leads to your woofer and measure from the disconnected one to the connected one. If the woofer is in good shape, though, you don't need to measure current. If there is voltage across the leads, then there is current. Others have suggested tests to see if your woofer is OK or not. Good luck.
