Does any one know of a music piece or movie passage that would push an amp (particulary on the low end - 22-40hz) and get it very hot. I currently have an amp on loan that I may buy but it has a fan in it and I want to see how the fan cycles and how audible it can be.

Thanks,

George

just use sine waves from a computer audio out or a test/set up disc w/ the track on repeat or just pick any music with enough bass and turn the amp up pushing a dummy load/resistor of your choice of impedence. this won't be a real world test, but it would certainly warm up the amp.

Hey, thanks for the suggestions - but I do not know how to do the sine wave test or the dummy load/resistor. Any guidance would be appreciated.

I got my amps almost too hot to touch lastnight cranking eric claptons "One more car, One more rider" However i had it quite loud on my 4 ohm speakers.

Another one I like to use to test an amps power is the soundtrack to pirates of the carribean "curse of the black pearl" (the first one)

Thanks for the suggestions - will have to borrow the oundtrack. I was alo hoping for testing tracks that would put an amp through the paces without having to play unusually or unconfortably loud.
