Hello there. I am looking to ugrade my speakers. Right now i am looking at some B&W 603'S. What musical selections would you bring to test speakers. Obviously I have some pieces of music I know well. I was wondering what you might use and what to listen for. I am a big classic rock fan. Also what dvd's for surrond sound listening. Any help would be great.

My suggestion on what to bring is music you enjoy listening to as there is no point hearing speakers you are going to purchase with music you hate.

What I normally do is bring a CD I enjoy listening to that is well recorded and one that is poorly recorded. If both sound good then you know you have found good speakers. Obviously the lower recording quality cd won't sound as good, but if it is still listenable and enjoyable you know the speakers are not too revealing.

I would like to add that whatever you bring it would be nice if the source material had distinct highs, lows, mids so you give the speakers a thorough workout.

If you can find a CD / DVD with a lot of "details" in the sound it would be nice to check that out to see if the system brings out or hides those fine details.
