OK I live in Potomac MD but my commute isn't as bad as Mudcat's. I'm 42 and married with one sweet girl. I'm a radiologist specialising in CT, MRI and Ultrasiund of the chest and abdomen.I was a DJ on good college radio stations way back when and mixed for bands in bars in med school.

My hobbies are music, history especially the civil war and I cook some. I regularly keep 7 kinds of wood for smoking on the grill.

My father in law was a long time trasurer for AES and I got to go to a few meetings with him. Great fun

Hey Dan,

My commute only takes 45 minutes in the morning and about 55 - 60 in the evening for a 48 mile drive. It is mostly reverse rush hour (except in the evening when I get to Boiling AFB on 295 South). My next door neighbor works in Falls Church (8 miles), and it takes her 45 - 60 minutes both ways. I'd say my commute is a peice of cake.

Mudcat,
We'll call it even. 30 min to Fairfax in the AM and 45 if I go to Loudoun add 15-30 in the PM. We Washingtonians love to ***** about our commutes. What kind of music do you play since you make instruments. I knew a cat in Ann Arbor who played great blues harp named Madcat Ruth. No relation I guess.

The name MUDCAT was placed on me about 15 years ago during a softball game. It was a rainy/ muddy game, I got caught off second and literally had to swim back to base. someone said I looked like a catfish, someone else said mudcat and that stuck.

I mostly listen to WTOP for traffic and news. throw in some Led Zepplin, Napalm Death, Ministry, STP, WHO, 60's Psychadelic, Animals, and CDs of my wife's playing (Brahms, Bach Concertos, Hayden, etc..). Brahms 4th is my favorite.

Well; I'm a registered independent and proud of it. That applies to politics as well as audio. I'm 51 and a fully accomplished grumpy old fart. I'm married to a wonderful woman and I have three step children. We also have a miniature schnauser. I work for a scientific instrumentation company by day and run a part time audio business. I have also been known to write an article or two for this web site. There will more articles to come in the future; as there is no shortage of misinformation to correct.
I also have two major goals in life:
1. I am bound and determined to become cliche free
2. I am going to live forever or die in the attempt.

I'm 49 year old man and happily married. I work for Texas Instruments in Dallas Texas. I have a Bachelors degree in Industrial Electronics. I enjoy visiting this website. I'm a die hard Republican. I like Yamaha and Denon, but I also see the value in numerous other audio makers products. T.I. owns Burr Brown, so we can't be all that bad, right. Remember audio has gotten better and still has a long ways to go to beat live music. We're not there yet!

Cheers

I still haven't forgiven Burr-Brown/TI for obsoleting the OPA671. If you were involved in that decision; don't tell me. That op amp was one of the best audio op amps ever made, and that decision caused me to scrap a new design.

"I still haven't forgiven Burr-Brown/TI for obsoleting the OPA671."

I work at DMOS06 in Dallas, we make DLP.
The Burr Brown is made in Arizona.
The decision to discontinue the OPA671 was way over my head!

Cheers

I'm 25 and living in "rainy & cold during the summer" upstate New York. My job is medical transportation. So be sure to make way for ambulences.

I'm single with no children and living with my domestic Partner (Who is off to become a Corrections Officer in a few months).

No kids, no pets. Have had a few pet scorpions, but they all tend to die after a few years. :(

I tend to vote for whoever manages to piss me off the least in any election year. So far "anybody but Bush" seems to be my opinion. But I'll likely throw my vote away and go for Nader. :)

I just got into serious audio a year ago and so far have managed to get a NAD/PSB stereo system and a Paradigm/pioneer/SVS surround sound home theater. Luckily the internet came into power about the time i started earning money and it has kept me from wasting money on Bose, and pricey cables. My other hobbies include motorcycles (current bike a 800 vulcan, a huge step-up from my harley-davidson POS), martial arts, and jumping to conclusions. :D

No Way!!! A fellow conservative up in New England!!!

Nua Uha!

I love New England! Texas has been very good to me, but I dream of winning the lottery and moving to NE! I have a friend who lives in W Mass (Hadley, Deerfield, U Mass area) and I just LOVE that region of the country, esp when the temp gets into the 100's here in TX. Of cours, I have AC, whereas in NE, it is often not needed except for a couple of weeks a year.

If you value your car, don't put any BUSH bumper stickers on it, (at least until AFTER he gets Re-Elected!)
