Tell me if this is a mess??

Need some expert opinion's on this. I don't know a lot about this kind of stuff.

I now own a pair of main speakers which are older Audiosphere Research Profiles which I think sound great but there is no way I will ever find a center channel of the same brand to match. My sub is a Mirage S8. My room measures 13'x18'.

So here is my proposal for a 5.1 system

Left & Right mains:
Audiosphere Research 25Hz-20KHz +- 2.5 db / 150 watts rms / 90 db / 4 ohm

Center channel:
Soundstage 70Hz-20KHz / 100 watts / 89 db / 8 ohm

Rear surrounds:
Soundstage Bookshelf 80Hz-20KHz / 85 watts / 88 db / 8 ohm

Subwoofer
Mirage Omni S8 27Hz-120Hz / 100 watts rms

Is this a total mismatch? Need some advise. Thanks

Agreed. I have never heard of this Soundstage brand. There is a guy selling JBL E20 bookshelves for cheap (got mine for $73 shipped) and they are factory refurbs with the warranty. I would recommend them as rears. I don't think you will be too messed up going with different rears, just get something with a similar sound as your fronts. I was running some Bose cubes (got them free) for fronts and rears with a HUGE wharfedale opal center. The center beasted the cubes. Now I am running the wharfedale as center, the E20s a fronts, and cubes as rears. It is my g/fs system and it doesn't sound bad. The placement of everything is bad, and we aren't worried about it till she moves.

For my system I will be running my 20's as mains, the wharfedale center, and probably some E30s as rears. Maybe get a PB10 for a sub, but not while I am in an apt.

Unless you are a HUGE audiophile, just get good quality pieces that sound similar and you should be ok.

How much are these speakers? What are their model numbers?

I paid around $700.00 / pr. back in the early 90's for the Audiosphere Research model PSL 88.1 Company is no longer in business. My Mirage sub was $350.00. As for the speakers I'm thinking of getting the center channel, Soundstage model "Stage Center 5" sells for $250.00 and the bookshelf model "Stage 50" sells for $250.00 / pr also.

Like you know I have soundstage speakers and they sound great, but I still don't have there center yet. Im using a center probably most never heard of a Kinama it was a Canadian company back east that went under. if you get the center let me know what you think? even though the Kinama sounds okay and I can't tell a difference in sound I would still like to timbre match my speakers.

That's my problem right now. Pretty hard to timbre match a center channel to L&R main speakers that are no longer made. So I thought at least getting the center and rear surrounds to be the same or does it matter? What would be the best advise when you cant timbre match the front mains and center channel together?
