Tell me how stupid this is

So, i dont have an SPL meter (yet), but bear with me please.

At 3 on my gain level on the sub, Audyssey 2EQ corrected it to -15db, which is the max it goes, which usually means it was trying to correct it even more than was in its limits.

However, knowing that Audyssey2EQ sets the subwoofer level really low, i've decided to adjust it myself.

I downloaded an SPL meter app for my iPhone, and keeping in mind that i think the speaker levels sound fine and are all the same, i matched the subwoofer level to them. Its kinda of weird though because 0 (a whole 15 extra decibels) is the level that was the match.

I know the iPhone app is inaccurate, but since the levels of the speakers sound fine, and i have to match the subwoofer to those, would this approach work?

Thanks all

My buddy has that app. I think that it tries to compensate for shortcomings of the iPhone's mic with an offset at lower frequencies (just like the Radio Shack SPL meters need) - do you know if that's really the case?
