My family has watched the 1st two seasons and loved it. Same for everyone we know who are Apple TV+ subscribers.
One could/should forgive the ludicrous plotline - an American who knows nothing about football (soccer), but is hired to run an English Premiership team - as the character development and scripting* and performances are fantastic.
*With a few quibbles. See below.
Why Ted Lasso isn’t the massive hit in the U.K. that it is in the U.S. - The Athletic
I was wondering if the series was popular in the UK. According to the attached article, not terribly. For those who won't/can't read it:
> Streaming services don't have the same degree of penetration in the UK that they have in North America, Apple TV+ least of all.
> With football (soccer) being a secular religion in the UK, the implausible scenarios may be a shark leap too far.
> The Americanization of English terms - especially when spoken by the English characters - would grind a few gears. "Parking Lot" vs "Car Park" and "Tie" vs "Draw" bother me - and I'm not even English!
Anyway, if you haven't watched it, I highly recommend it.
