TEAC 300 SERIES INTERMITTENT SOUND PROBLEM

Hi all, I have a TEAC 300 series system of separates which has a problem whereby the sound to the speakers stops occasionally for microseconds. Sometimes it will do it three or four times within a couple of minutes and others it may be once or twice an hour. It seems to be on all inputs to the amp (phono, aux, tape, CD and tuner.) I have replaced the the amp with another unit that was (I am told by the seller) fully working which I believe to be true, however the problem still occurs.
I have put back on the original TEAC speakers instead of the Mission ones I was using but still the problem exists. The CD player has also beeen replaced and I have tried cleaning all the phono connections with electrical cleaner and light emery to ensure good contact.
Has any one any ideas where I can look. Could it be the remote control link wires that connect all of the units?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Dave

Make sure there are no whiskers or shorts in the speaker wiring. If all that is correct then I suspect there is something wrong internally in the unit, which you will not find without test equipment and experience.
