Target carries Kef, Athena Tech, and Harman Kardon!

I went into our Target that was recently renovated looking for the Silly Blu-Ray is 6x better than DVD; and HD-DVD is 3x better than DVD sign, and saw they had Kef speakers and Athena tech, they even had a H/K receiver I never found that sign, but I am still stoked they carry Kef.

why can't all Targets carry that stuff? the highest quality audio gear my Target carrys is Sony (and Bose )
I had to buy my KEFs online because the nearest dealer is 200 miles away

I had always liked KEF, but the last time I auditioned some of their Q1 bookshelf speakers, I was not impressed at all. What lines are they carrying? Certainly not the Ref line??

Sorry, I did not realize there was a thread already. I live in Fort Wayne IN, and they just finished relocating the Target. Maybe it is just the new Target stores that get them.

From what I can see, it's only the Cresta and one or two of their KHT (satellite home theater speakers). Nothing too high up.

j_garcia, that's too bad about your experience/impressions of the Q series. I heard them and, while not blown away, thought they were pretty nice, particularly with their sound + build quality vs. price.

Well, my friend has Q5s properly setup and I really like them, so I was kind of surprised when I went and auditioned the Q1s in a treated listening room with some pretty heavy duty gear (Denon 5803 and a 5900 with my own SACD). I set the speakers up myself. I was a bit disappointed with the imaging on them, which they have always claimed is their strong suit. I'm not against giving them another listen, but that one made me question the benefits of the coaxial design, at least in the smaller speakers maybe.

Agreed. That's their whole rationale behind that design (uni-q), so if you found that they weren't imaging well, it's no wonder you were underwhelmed. I must confess that the room I heard them in was not well treated and was quite cramped, so probably not the best of listening environments nor an environment for me to make an informed decision. But like I said, I thought they sounded decent, and then when I examined their build quality and looked at the price tag, I was pretty surprised.
