Hey, after about 6 months of use, my Tapco(Now Mackie) Thump TH-15A's seem to be a bit blown. On some frequencies at high volume the bass distorts and one of them emits a very high, low volume whine. When I emailed them about warranty they said "If they find the voice coil of the speaker to be burnt or torn, or somehow non-defect, it would be a non warranty repair."
Does anyone know if this would be the problem or if it's (hopefully) something different

Thanks, Misha

Those are active speakers. The wine sounds more like an electronic issue than a mechanical issue with the drivers.

The bass problem may well be driver damage from over driving.

Those are very cheap speakers and if you drive them hard I think you can expect troubles on all fronts.

So get them repaired and then be sensible.
