Looking to incrementally improve the sound in my home theater room (Semi-Annual upgraditis.) I have about a $3K budget. Was originally looking to add power amps but the advice I got was to rethink about it and look at my speakers.
Media room and System description below.

I'm now thinking about replacing my subwoofers with either:
  • 2 SVS PB 3000s or
  • 2 SVS SB 3000s

I considered several others brands, but I like the SVS App, the design and the configurability. I also have 24 inches under my under my screen so I have some size limitations.

Two questions so far:
  1. I'm leaning towards the ported subs due to the size of my room anyone's thoughts on the pros/cons of this?
  2. Any ideas on how to measure the difference this would make? Room EQ?
Thoughts? Other ideas?
Thanks,
Jeff

Definitely get the PB-3000s instead of the SB-3000s. SB-3000s are great subs but they are intended for spaces with strict size limitations. Monoprice Monolith THX 12" Ultra is also worth considering here, it is just under 24" height. You can also turn subs on their side if you have something soft to put them on so the finish doesn't get scuffed. That will open up options from Hsu Research and Outlaw Audio not to mention the Monolith THX 15" Ultra. A pair of any of those subs would put your Klipsch subs to shame.

Or

I've spoken to Tom helluva nice guy he does well with his company

My only weakness with his company is there are not a lot of reviews of his subs or measurements if he has measurements I apologize I could never find any

That's a little bit of a dampened my enthusiasm So to speak because some measurements do help you decide if the sub is good for your room size a lot of high performing subs from different ID companies sound a lot alike due to there excellent quality

So it's a lot about output extension room size midbass things like that how far can each sub go on the criteria you need in your room

He's a good guy call him up

Those PB 3000's will rock your room and the app and ability to really dial in the sub to maximize performance all from your phone is super convenient

Tom co-founded SVS.
Yeah he did and then turned around and is doing well with his own company.

Says a lot about him

I was really impressed with our conversations really was helping me to get what was best for my room even if it wasn't his product

Got nothing but great things to say about him and my interactions with his company
