I'm new to this forum but a longtime audio geek. Here's my question. I'm building a dedicated listening room (my third) and have decided to take the plunge into home theater. I want to preserve the ability to listen to high-quality two-channel but have the capability to enjoy multi-channel music and home theater. Additionally, I will build out my system using components of the quality I now have. My current two-channel system consists of the following: Magnepan 3.6Rs speakers, Vandersteen 2WQ subs (2), Audio Research VT200 amp, Audio Research LS5 Mk. III preamp, Audio Research PH3SE phono preamp, VPI Aries TT with JMW arm, Wadia 16 CD Player, all balanced interconnect (with exception of phono section). The room has been prewired for surround and plasma. I believe I'd like to go with Magnepan surround and center channel speakers. As for components, I'm not sure what precisely I will need, other than a multichannel amp, source, processor and preamp. I'd appreciate any guidance on which components I should consider and how they need to be connected to accomplish my goals. Thanks!
