I have a Denon 3300 AV Receiver which is hooked up via component cable to my Sony Bravia LCD. My question is why can't I see my menu or system set-up screen through my tv when I have the Denon in TV/TBS mode? The component cables are coming from the Monitor out and then to the monitor in on the tv. My cable works fine and I can also view DVD's fine, I just switch mode to DVD on my denon.

thanks for the help!

You need to connect a cable from the Monitor Out jack on your 3300 to a video input jack of your display.

so component and video inputs are not one in the same. I always thought component carried video inputs, just at a higher level of quality. I do have the component cables going from the monitor out on the DENON, to the component in on the display unit.

Component Video is an analog video connection just like composite and s-video but is of higher quality because it carries the luminance and chrominance on separate wires.

The issue is that many older receivers can't display the OSD over component. You'd need to connect an additional composite video cable from the receiver to a different input on the TV and then switch to that input to view the OSD.
