I am looking for suggestions on hooking up a cooling fan system to my home theater set up. I currently have the following units. Samsung 52" LCD, Pioneer Elite SC-05, Directv HDTV DVR, Sony blu-ray and Toshiba HD DVD. All the units are in an enclosed credenza. To lower the heat in the credenza I purchased a Tech Pro cooling fan system with 4 small fans. What I need help with is how or what I need to have the cooling fans on a switched outlet so that it only runs when the receiver is on...........Any help would be greatly appreciated.........THANKS in advance.....:D

If your receiver has AC switched outlets you are fine. If it only has 12 volt triggers, then you need a 12 volt relay, that will switch 110 volt AC and have large enough contacts to handle the current of your fan system. I would put a cap across the switch terminals of the relay to contain the back EMF, especially at switch off.
