I have a Klipsch Synergy C-3 speaker and at certain sounds the tweeter seems to make a rattle or a funky noise. It sounds a little like a static or popping or rattle noise. I would like to diagnose and alleviate this problem.

I have a Denon AVR-3300 receiver that has a rated RMS output of 105 Watts. The synergy is rated at handling RMS 150 Watts. I dont really push my receiver very much, never past 0 dB (which is the half power and highest safe volume I believe?). So I don't think my receiver is clipping or that I could have blown my speaker.

Sorry I don't have any more specifics on when the sound occurs, but its when Im listening to music at a louder level (around -15 dB ish) and only on some songs with a higher pitched melody I think.

What does anybody recommend? Can I replace the tweeter? Could it be blown?

Thanks for any help!

Its interesting that you say that because I have a C3 Center channel myself and this evening it did the same thing. lnight I hooked up a new XPA-5 Amp to it that delivers 200wpc RMS. I also thought it was the tweeter at first but its actually the 6 inch drivers popping under stress, mine was a very light pop that was intermittent. It only happened under high SPL. I had the calibration +7 Center speaker volume +6 and db range about what you had your, so it was cranked. It happened listening to the Eagles Hotel California the Bass guitar notes were coming out of the 6 inch drivers and it started to pop intermittently as if it couldnt keep up. Couple minutes and i changed the source and lowered the volume and of course it was fine. That center is for sale currently because it cant keep up with my system.
