Swap Even or Upgrade?

My brand new Onkyo HT-R510 receiver is going in for service due to botched setup attempt. It's covered by the warranty, so I can either have it repaired or take advantage of the opportunity and request an upgrade for the $$difference. I spent months researching HT's before deciding on the Onkyo HT-R767C (??) which included DVD changer DV-CP701 and SKS-HT200 speakers/SW, but I never got the chance to hear it perform because I fried it while connecting it, like a fool, and don't know whether my original pick was good. What would you do? Thanks for any suggestions.

If I read correctly, you were connecting speakers while the unit was on. Not the units fault. Make sure all power is off, and power is disconnected from the wall or surge protector before you make ANY connections. ;)

If I mis-read, sorry.

Onkyo makes solid products.
