I'm not sure I understand why you're saying I should go with a good down firing sub as opposed to say, a good front firing sub, though. Are you suggesting getting the PB12-NSD now and pairing it with a good down firing sub later, or getting a good down firing sub now and pairing it with an extra of the same make/model later?

It seems to me that your second sub is a long way down the road. My personal preference for a single sub would be down firing, but that's just me, doesn't mean it's the right choice or that it is more logical. I don't know how to really explain this but they seem to cover an area more evenly then just 1 front firing sub.

It's going to depend on the subs.

I'm not aware of any drivers that have been used in the front and down firing positions. Until you have that you are comparing apples and oranges.

Two really good down firing subs would leave you expecting better performance than two not so good front firing subs and vise versa.

Unless you plan to have your subs play different frequencies, plan on getting identical subs. There is an article on the main page for setting up multiple subs.

Yeah, I've read that article and I've also read that you're supposed to use the same drivers across the same frequencies so that's why I was confused at first. I'm surprised that the SB12-NSD is the same price as the PB12-NSD considering that the PB12 had a higher retail price.

Well crap on cracker! I just noticed SVS offers 'Bill Me Later'. 6 months no interest, no payments. That gets me closer to pulling the trigger on a SB12-NSD.

I'm thinking about jumping on it and picking up a PB12-NSD. I'm currently running a Klipsch Synergy Sub-10. Think I'll notice a difference?


The only thing stopping me is that I JUST dropped $650 on a pair of PSB Image T65 loudspeakers...

Not knocking Klipsch, that's not what I would call a sub at all. Fart box yes, sub no. Go for it, it's the real deal.
