SVS ultra bookshelves and subs?

Really simple question. Would bookshelves be adequate for home theater with two subs or should I go with towers and subs? Almost all home theater, not too much music.

The Ultra bookshelves are plenty capable. I'd save the money from the towers and use it for better subs!
When Pogre upgraded his Ultra Bookshelf speakers to the towers (and moved the bookshelf speakers to his surrounds), he did not notice a significant difference and although he tried, after getting scientific about it and using REW to measure his system every which way to verify that he had everything optimized, he concluded that crossing his towers at 80Hz or 100Hz resulted in the best sound from those speakers, which kind of defeats the purpose of buying towers (although they do look impressive).

To me it depends on size of room. In my small bedroom setups bookshelfs plus subs do fine. In my big room the floorstanders for both L/R (can't accommodate a third for center unfortunately) and surrounds make a nice difference as do better sub setups. Like the old adage no replacement for displacement. What kind of room and construction is it and how big is it?

Just another thought you could kind of meet in the middle and do the Prime Pinnacles

Towers do tend to offer more dynamic range, but if you aren't in a big room, with seating more than 8 or 9' away, good Stand Mounts should work pretty well when paired with quality Sub-Woofage.
Of course, I'm always a fan of a good 3-way design.
In terms of placement and room acoustics, I REALLY like Maz's rec for the Prime Pinnacles. They seem to review very well, and the Ultra Towers have a reputation for being a little difficult to place in-room.

FYI. The room can be any size we want. New construction.

Some room dimensions as well as construction/treatment can be main points....not quite the same as your original question :)

Measure room size , if you can I’d get towers as fronts . Pinnacle model is a little
Cheaper if you don’t want those .

Small room bookshelf’s probably ok
