If you do that, you will really want to listen on-axis so make sure you have that tweeter aimed at you. The problem is that a speaker like that usually has an even response at a horizontal angle but a very uneven on the vertical angle. This isn't normally an issue because most people listen at roughly the same height although over a wide horizontal angle. By setting the speaker on its side, you are making the optimal horizontal listening angle into a very narrow one. So you won't be able to listen outside of a small area before audible problems set in.
