SVS SBS-01 5.1 for 24x17 room?

Hello all,

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Room size is 24x17. Viewing distance to screen is 12'. Movies 70%, music 30%.

Would the SBS-01 5.0 with PB12NSD (which is on sale for $900 currently) be too small for this room?

Should I consider any other setups such as ascend or aperion in this price range or slightly higher?

Thank you in advance for your advice!

n,

I just order a SVS system (SCSs up front and SBSs for surrounds and rears)with the PB12-Plus sub. My room dimensions are a tad bigger than yours. I would contact Jack at SVS sales. He was prompt with his emails and was very easy to work with. Once I have my system up and running I can let ya know, although I think you will have already decided by then ;)

Contact SVS and be very honest about how loud you would like the system to be able to play. They will get you to where you want to go.

Yes, strongly consider Ascend Acoustics. Great company with quality speakers. I have no experience with Aperion but I hear they are very nice also. If you can get bookshelf speakers from all three and do a shootout in your room. Then you will know for sure that you are getting the best set for you.

FWIW...I enjoy both my SVS MTS-01 and Ascend CMT-340SE speakers very much.

What I remember about the SBS-01 is that they can fill a pretty large room. Aperion and Ascend both make excellent speakers certainly worth a look. Ascend pays shipping both ways so no risk to try them. Axiom is also worth a look.

I've heard them in a smaller room than that and I'd say I'd opt for the SCS-01s up front.

Aperion pays shipping both ways not Ascend. Are the Ascend 200SEs more efficient for filling that space? Would two 4" drivers move more air than a single 6"?

You could work Ascend's sales and get a 340CC and a pair of 200 as a 3.0 system with $100 off and then buy a pair of b-stock 170SEs at $260 which would all come in around $750. Move the 200s to surrounds and then grab the SVS sub or an eD A2-300 and be a couple hundred over the original budget for nicer speakers.
