Seems like this sub is phenomenal for the price and exactly what I'm looking for to upgrade my system. Are there any subs out there for this price range that perform better? Anyone know of any or any reviews? Just trying to get the best bang for my buck! Thanks!

from most of the opinions ive heard, the plus/2 is a great sub at that price, ranked over a single ultra, or a single ep500

if youre looking to spend 1300 then thats probobly the way i'd go. if you have the room. It is a huge sub.. you should try and find one on the members systems pics, its very massive.

That sub has a humongous footprint. Have you looked at the new Hsu VTF-HO Turbo? $799 early order pricing.

Better subs for the same price? Probably not - if you can handle the size. Do you realize how big this thing is?

If size is an issue, check into one of these. Ed Mullen does an excellent job with the reviews.

the plus 2 is good but has more distortion,The ultra has just as much bottom end and is cleaner and can be heard by a long shot.

You've heard them side by side?

Does anyone know how this sub would compare to my B&W ASW675, i am guessing that it will be much better but how much do you guys think? Do anyone know of a review of the B&W subs? Thanks

the asw675 is a sealed sub (and 10" i think)

i think any of the subs mentioned in the posts above will pretty much blow the 675 out of this world.

i mean your 675 is only flat to 25hz, the subs above all below 20hz
your sub was designed mostly for music i think.

Do you know where i could read a review and see some graphs??

id like to here more about the Plus 2 i hope to be buying one soon and that comment about the ultra made me consider it... but it is a little out of my price range... but if its performance is that much better, i can just save for a little longer... :)

Thanks, wish i read this a minute ago, just posted a new thread asking where to find a review. Mine is Oak and i love the sound, very tight and musical but just doesn't really fit the rest of my system in terms of power. I find that my stratus golds just overpowers it, thus i am looking for a sub with more SPL.

the single ultra is $50 cheaper than the plus2,So you dont have to save your money.

Here's a quote from Tom V. at SVS in response to a question of mine re the Ultra/1 vs the Plus/2 PB woofers:

"While you MAY be able to “tell” a plus subwoofer from a ultra subwoofer…I don’t think there would be a consistent preference for either one. At least not until one or the other approached its clean output limits..:)"

The Plus/2 will have 2-4 db more clean output than the Ultra/1.

Here's another quote from Tom V. in response to one of my questions regarding the comparison between an Ultra/1 and Plus/2:

The PB12-ultra wouldn’t have any significant advantage over the PB12-plus/2. The PB12-ultra/2 would offer the same extension capabilities as the PB12-plus/2(and the PB12ultra), but the Ultra/2 will have a 1.5 to 2.5dB advantage in clean output capabilities. With the Pb12-plus/2…you get about 90% of the performance of the Ultra/2…for 60% of the price. So while there is no denying the Ultra/2 is the top dog…you are also getting into the “law of diminishing returns” too..:)
