Maddys,
I have the PB12-plus/2 and I couldn't imagine having the need for anything more powerful. The bass is clean and realistic. By realistic I mean similar to a movie theater in my entertainment room. I couldn't justify spending over $2K for an Ultra without hearing it first. But I gambled on the plus and frankly, I have no regrets. If you read other reviews on this site of the two you will find that those who have listened to both say your best bang for the buck is the plus/2. The two almost sound the same according to others. Even Ron at SVS admits that your best buy is the plus. But if you feel you have to have the ultimate go with the Ultra, Ron says.
My room is 14 x 20 x 8. So I just went with it without checking with Ron at SVS. I sort of knew what I wanted. It sounds great. The plus/2 was a replacement for a Klipsch KSW-12. So it was a quantum leap in power and performance.
My plus/2 sits in a corner the way it should and it is unequalized. It is out of the way and the wife has finally approved of it.
Frankly, it sounds good to me right out of the box. Even SVS says that no equalizer is needed if it is placed correctly. Its all about placement.
Good luck in your decision. You won't go wrong with either.
