Nice video with much more polish than I expected from an amateur review. I would guess your job involves video production somehow? By the way, 66 lbs is not too heavy for a sub like that, I wouldn't think that is a two man job, at least for normal guys.

In the world of ID brands it isn't heavy, but for B&M brands, thats about 20lbs heavier than most subs from B&W, REL, RBH ect. But yeah probably one guy should be able to get it and move it around.

ie real subwoofers vs token subs that function more as decor.

That was excellent! There's really very little anyone could ding it for, it was that well done.

I've written at least half a dozen reviews now, so I know the time and effort that goes into it. None of mine have any audio though, so I can only imagine how much more involved yours was to make.

You should send that link to SVS - I suspect they'd be more then impressed.

Thank you.

Actually, I work in education, and my job doesn't involve video production. I did study film and video in college, but when I graduated, they were only just getting into AVID.

66lbs and bulky is what makes the sub difficult to move. Picking up 66lbs isn't too tough, but maneuvering a big, handle-less box into the corner where you want it without the spikes catching on the carpet and putting your finger through the driver or sheering off a control knob can be problematic.

Thank you. I did and they have actually, under "Pro Reviews".

I was just going to say I emailed them the other day and they told me to check out eugovector's review (and linked me to it). Great job.

Well, I'm glad they liked it enough to spread the word. If you're considering one, let me know if you have any pre-purchase questions. I seriously considered Rythmik, ED, Hsu, Outlaw, and others for over 2 years (I'm an over-planner) Before landing on the SVS. It was a tough choice, but I'm certain I made a good one.

I already decided on the PB-12 NSD. But I would still love to hear your thoughts.

Nice job my only suggestion is to limit the videos to under 5 minutes.
I tried to keep it under 10, but there was just too much content. I actually cut out a good chunk of comparing the SVS to some of the other subs I researched before buying. I certainly understand the appeal of short videos (I know my attention wanes after a few minutes), but I had to balance that with actually giving a through review.

One thing that I considering doing is trying to structure the video more like a written review, with bookmarks for the various sections. A solid audioholics review would take 10 minutes or more to read start to finish, but you can always jump to the conclusion section. A simple list of bookmarks in the description would be the youtube equivalent of audioholics drop-down sections without cutting out all the substance for folks looking for something more thorough.

Thanks for you input Gene and keep up the good works at audioholics. Looking forward to seeing your own PB12-NSD review.

Gotta love any video of subwoofer excursion. It makes my heart stop a lot less than making MY sub move in out by inches

Are you also rolling in the aperions for smoothed out bass response?
Yes, I'm glad the video captured that. On my underpowered editing station, the reduced framerate playback didn't look as impressive as the final product. That excursion, BTW, was from a torture test track, but was being played back well under reference (-8dB if I recall). The limiter wasn't even tripping.

As for rolling in the Aperions, I chose not to because their response drops off at ~30hz. With reasonably flat response as it, adding a non-similar sub would have skewed my output above 30hz, and when EQing it back down, Audyssey may have inadvertently tried to boost sub-30hz overdriving the smaller, more frequency limited Aperions. It's best when using multiple subs + Audyssey that they be identical, or at least similar in response, per Chris Kyriakakis.

People don't watch video overviews if they are more than 3-5 minutes from what we've found. Back in the day we used to do very long videos and they just didn't get viewed as much. This is why we wrap our videos in a detailed text writeup so people that care to know more can do so via reading an article that buttresses the video.

Keep at it though as people will surely like how you approach the products as evident by the feedback here.

Personally, I think the length was fine. It was long enough to provide appropriate content, yet not so long as to become tedious. I feel you successfully straddled that fine line.

Hard for me to say if its too long, i need way more sub than pb12 nsd and to me im totally uninterested in buying one, so i just skipped around the video.

Maybe if i was looking up a bunch of reviews for subs in that price range i would watch the whole thing, im not sure.

Youve got a voice made for radio, so thats definitely not the issue, its just so much information being conveyed over a video when i dont want that much information conveyed over a video.

edit: rewatched whole thing, to be blunt theres a good 3-4 minutes of what seems like an SVS commercial, or a video produced by a sales rep. That can definitely be ditched

Thank for the kind words. I'm not going to argue short attention span, like I said, my own dwindles pretty quickly. However, my audience retention chart seems to indicate that the majority of viewers who made it past the first 30 seconds are staying to the credits. I think that if you keep the content solid and targeted, people who are interested will watch to the end.

Hi Gotchaforce,

Thanks for the input and taking the time to watch the video. In an effort to make my future videos better, is there a specific part you think should be cut? Feel free to pm if you don't want to clutter the thread, but either are okay with me.

If you don't have the time to provide specific feedback, that's cool too and I appreciate the feedback you've given up to this point.

Thanks,
Marshall
