HI,
I want to purchase the SVS PB12 Plus/2 but on their website Canada is not mentioned as one of the international countries(is it concidered as 1 with US?)
If anyone knows how to get this lovely sub in Canada please let me know.
I live close to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, so picking it up in Toronto would not be a problem. I WANT IT, I WANT IT, I WANT IT!!!

From what SVS emailed to me last April, shipping for a PB12 Plus to Vancouver would cost me US $190 and the custom fee would be around $50-60. And then there are the taxes. There are no duties because they are NAFTA compliant.

There was no hassle getting my SVS. Love the dear thing!

My PB-12 ISD is a little lighter and the UPS delivery man helped me get the 87 lbs box downstairs... showed me how to use the edges of steps to simply slide the box down the staircase.

Hm, but I don't think that can compete with the performance of a SVS plus/2.

Subjective I know, but IMO they are ugly, and even more so when that port extension thingy they have is placed on top. No way would I have that in my living room no matter what.

The svs pb12 plus/2 is really nice, I grant you that. I was only tring to help because buying from Canada it's cost about 50% more and Hsu has a Canadian dealer:) . I think you mentioned in your quest to buy one about the cost issue as well;) .

PS: Major will give you a red chicklet for calling them UGLY:D

I had a similar discussion some months back on AVS when I first came across HSU - and honestly, with that port extension fitted, it can't be called anything but ugly (or even butt ugly :D ). Ugly is fine if you have a dedicated HT or listen room but over here it’s not common to have that and kit is usually integrated into a normal living space. And yes, SVS are big boxes but they also look like nicely finished furniture when pushed into corners.

The plus/2 just cost me about 2250 US$ over here as against $1500 in the US. Shipping was an additional $80 or so (and the distributors are only about a 3 hour drive away). To put that in context, a Velodyne DD15 would set you back about $4600 from a distributor that's about an hour away from me... It can be a little irritating that we pay so much more for gear over here.

SVS is going to have a authorized reseller in Canada by the end of the month.

Ron Temple from SVS said so on AVS Forumshttp://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=703942&page=2:

"Actually an announcement about that is coming very soon, thanks for the interest. Our goal will be stable prices, enhanced accessability, and simpler/lower shipping costs. We've been working on procedures for world-market presence for over a year now and frankly Canada was the toughest case to make from a business standpoint (sales have been quite good there over the years right from the US after all). We think the right combination of conditions exist, finally. We've been in intense discussions with a well-established web-direct reseller with a good track record of providing good service to his customers and expect this to bear fruit around the end of the month.

PS there is actually no "duty" now on most SVS products AFAIK, we ship north all the time (heck our amps actually come from there now). There are some pesky "border fees" that amount to a similar thing, and we're well aware of that small, but pervasive, added cost."
