I have a chance to pick up one of these subs with the samson 1000W amp for $475 including shipping. Anyone have experience with this sub? I'm assuming this would be preferable to spending the same amount on a new PB-10 right? I live in an apartment an the room is about 20x17. Thoughts?

well if that is a Ultra you are talking about it is a very great deal as long as everything is ok with the sub, but to compare it to the pb/10 you cant because their will BE no comparson. The Ultra is far better. So yes that sounds like a fantastic deal.

Sounds like a killer deal, too bad you live in an apt. thought, as that sub is sure to upset some neighbors if you crank it up.

Not sure how old it is but I know that it has an external amp. I looked on the SVS site and they don't sell this (CS ultra) model anymore. I guess that would be a good question to ask the guy. I wonder though, as Glocks says, if this will be too sub for my small apartment. My neighbors have never complained about the sound but I'm thinking this sub will test their patience a lot more than my current 150W HTIB sub.

You could call up SVS and see if/when they made that model and get some specifications to determine how good it is. SVS is very helpfull that way.

If the sub is very good and goes deep, there is probably a way to set the ports so it doen't go so low. You can also keep the volume low. You need to think of the place you move to next - probably a house, so you may want to get a good sub now if possible so you don't have to repurchase one in the future.
