SVS CS 25-31+, where to go with the amp...

I posted this on AVS as well but I'm looking at buying a used SVS CS 25-31 plus. I will be using this sub in conjunction with a Pioneer 1015 receiver. The only think im skeptical about is the amp that is coming with it. I will be using it through 8 ohms. It appears to be a generic 250 watt parts express amp that gets 180 volts RMS at 8 ohms. I'm not too sure if this amp is going to provide sufficient power for this sub. I'm kind of new to this whole HT thing as well so I wasn't sure what to do whether it was pick up another amp to bi-amp it, sell the amp it comes with and buy a better one, or to keep the amp in the event that it works well enough. My room dimensions are about 18x14. I realize this sub is probably overkill for this room but im not too concerned with that. What I am concerned about is finding how much money I will have to invest to really drive the sub well. If anyone has any suggestions concerning what to do here I'd really appreciate it. My assumption is that my best bet would be to get a new, better amp. Thanks in advance.

That amp should be sufficient, but is probably not nearly what the Plus can take. If you wanted to step up, I'd say sell it and pick up one of the 500w BASH amps, probably the one with the PEQ built in, which are probably closer to what is used on the PC Plus models (525w).

If it is the amp I am thinking of, I am using a similar one, one model up from that that produces 350w from the same manufacturer and it is driving my 15" with no problems at all; quite impressive actually. They are more potent than they seem, but still not going to be the same as the amp that comes in the PC Plus.

I'm not sure about biamping a dual voice coil driver. I don't think you can do that because it is one circuit.

That sub is not overkill for that room, IMO. :D

Thanks a lot for your reply and advice, I think I'm going to get it and see how it sounds, and just upgrade the amp further down the road.
