Hi guy's, been off the radar for ages but pop back and forth when i can, great advice is always at hand here, so here is my dilemma.

Being from NZ i have only limited options for sub woofers until i recently found deep hertz audio in Aus :D and they distribute SVS, which seems to be very loved over there and sounds like a great option for something different and great quality.

I currently live in an apartment which is quite small and has a lounge area roughly 5m x 5m  that opens into the kitchen but plan on moving somewhere bigger shortly and wanted some advice on the best options in my price bracket ($900-$1300 NZ dollars max).

I have narrowed it down to PB10isd or PB12nsd or tube option 25-31pci these all have plus points, but what suits my needs best? Oh and the pb10 is on special right now saving me money and waf is not an issue :)
I watch mainly to movies and xbox with a bit of music.

Thanks

it's always best to buy the biggest subwoofer you can afford. (IMO)

saves you upgrade bucks in the long run. :)

Mike c gives good advice here. Get the most sub you can for the price. If you order quickly you could get a PB12 plus 2 for $1099 (fine textured black). I'd have to give serious thought to the PC-Ultra as well. BTW, I like your receiver!

Thanks i like it too, but now with the HD and HDMI etc i will upgrade to something else next year...........it has served me very well never misses a beat.

The deal you speak of is probably direct only i am along way from america
Hehe i can just imagine my neighbours face when me and the rest of the 3 stories above him come crashing down into his lounge from the bass a pb12 plus 2 generates:p:eek:

The dealer in Aussie has sorted a good price i think, but shipping cost about $230 on top of price :(
I really want one of these so may have to save up.

16 by 16 is within the PB-10's range (nearing it's limits that can J_garcia can attest to). I agree with mike by playing it safe, and the 25-31PCi will have the most output. The PB-12 is the next choice IMO.

I would get the PB-12, given your current room. If you next place if going to be bigger, the Cylinder is the smartest choice.

Yep, the PB-10 should have no problem in a room that size, but if you are moving somewhere bigger, I'd probably consider one of the other two. The PB-12 will dig deeper but the 25-31 should have a bit more output (and cost less to ship due to much lower weight).

I am with J. Garcia, I'd go with the tube because of shipping cost in your situation (and also because they are cooler:D ;)). For the buck, can't beat an SVS tube.
As you can see below, I have the big brother of the tube you are considering. It is in a HUGE room (approx. 15 x 40 ft) and handles it without breaking a sweat.

Thanks for all the advice so far guy's, i do not think my girlfriend will allow the tube it must be a box  i am happy that i am even allowed one again.
The exchange rate is ok at present but will still cost me around $1800NZ landed on my door which is above my target... but i will save more and go the PB12 nsd i think :)
I really want something that kicks *** and sounds great as well as being a bit unusual for this part of the world.

I'd say if you live in an apartment, first thing you need to do is appease your neighbors and butter them up as much as possible. Any SVS sub you get is going to not only rock your socks off, but likely theirs as well. :D

The coin I laid down for my SVS PB12-NSD is probably among some of the best money I have ever spent on A/V gear, hands down.

EDIT: Just re-read your first post - I guess you'll be moving at some point anyway, but if you plan to crank it up while you're still in your apartment, the least you can do is forewarn your neighbors! :D

I think the PB-12 is a good choice if you can't go with a cylinder. It is tuned lower than the 25-31PCi also.

For sure the PB-12plus is a great choice, I would say have patients and see if you can get one of the B-Stock units.. I got a good deal that way...

Mine was Piano Black, and arrived here is absolutely perfect shape, which means to me that If any of the B-Stock units were to look used, it would for sure be a Piano Black, and mine is perfect..

BTW, it totally kills in my 1700 cu ft bedroom...

I was just comparing it to my SB-12Plus and I personally like the PB12plus better for both music and movies... :) YMMV
