SVS and Hsu subs how to choose?

I have read a lot on this site about Hsu and SVS subs. I have visited their websites, and read good reviews on both. My question is since they sell factory direct, do you just have to order based on recommendations and product specs? Or is there any place to listen before you buy? I'm trying to stay in the $500 price range.

I believe that both SVS and Hsu have message boards like this on their sites. You should check around and see if any owners live in your area. Like Axiom and AV123, owners of SVS and Hsu should let you come over for an in-house audition.

Thanks for the opportunity Brian, but I live in Austin, TX. I looked at the website and was looking at both VTF-3 and VTF-2s. Have you been pleased? I went to tweeter today at lunch and listened to the Velodyne DLS 3750....any comment on that comparison?

STF-3 vs. PB-12

I got a reply back from Hsu they recommend for my space the STF-3. From looking at the SVS website, looks like the most comparable sub is the PB-12 ISD. Any advice on this comparison?
