Suspending speakers from ceiling

Is there any reason why suspending surround and rear loudspeakers of 25 pounds or less using steel cable is not recommended? They would be at the proper height, and could be angled or toed in as necessary. Im not worried about the safety issues (each one of the 4 cables can support the speaker on its own), I'm just concerned about the sound quality.

It’ll work. Just make sure the speakers are inverted, as they should be anytime they are up high.

seems like it could be difficult to fine tune a system with speakers hanging from the ceiling, as well as risk of someone hitting their head on them (and the resulting lawsuit) and how to hide the wires, etc.
