Surrounds to go with Klipsch Quartets

Hey all,

This is kind of a piggy back question to another post in the General AV area. My dad is finally doing a 5.1 system (4.1 really, phantom center) and we (I) need to find some surrounds to go with it. I'm not sure on size constraints, yet. I've asked to him to do some basic eyeballing/measuring of what is too large.

The surrounds will be mounted to the wall using brackets. No in-wall or in-ceiling speakers.
What are your suggestions?
I've suggested going with the Ascend CBM-170SE
based on size, reviews, and recommendations from multiple forums/sources. I have never heard them in person.
Good? Bad? Doesn't matter because they're the surrounds?

I'm currently reviewing these Klipsch bookshelf models as possibilities to stay with the same make:
Klipsch RB-51
Klipsch B-3
Klipsch B-2

System basics at his house:
Yamaha V661 A/V Receiver
Klipsch Quartet fronts
The Quartet speakers are not similar to the Quintet speakers.

ps - Please, do not suggest I go and listen to a lot of speakers and choose what I like best.
I don't have the Quartets here to listen to and haven't listened to them in a long time. I couldn't really tell you what they sound like. My memory says they're clear, detailed, and bright. But, that was with them on a hardwood floor and the new house is carpeted.

edit - added Klipsch models

Ascend would be a horrible mate with Klipsch.

I think you'll definitely want to stay within the klipsch family of speakers. I also recommend he stay within the reference line because they're a cut above Synergy. It would be hard to match the quartets perfectly with any current klipsch speaker, but the Ref line will be pretty darned good, and as good as any.

You can do a dealer search on their website to find a local reference dealer. Even if there isnt a retail store close by, there will be somebody in your area (home installer, etc, etc,) who will sell you the speakers.

I agree with Buckeye Nut. It would be hard to timbre match a Klipsch speaker, as well as, provide a similar sensitivitiy\efficiency for linear volume tracking among the speakers.

Here are the specs if you are interested in doing your own research. A post on the Klipsch forums would also probably be a better place to pose these questions. I am sure someone has asked this very same question over there and probably even someone who has found an ideal solution that would provide first hand feedback.

Thanks for the opinions. I'll tell my dad to ignore the Ascend suggestion. I figured that it would be hard to match them. That's the biggest reason my dad and I decided that trying to find a center channel wasn't worth the hassle. Well, that and the fact that there isn't any real place to put it with how everything is setup...

I'll drop a post on the Klipsch forum. Good suggestion. Apparently my brain has decided not to fully function...

Pat,
Klipsch did make a center channel to go with the Quintets. Might be difficult to find, though.

Thanks for the info. We already came across those and decided based on degree of difficulty in tracking them down and also mounting them that it really wasn't worth the hassle at this point. My suggestion to my dad was that if he really wanted a center channel to move the quartets to a different room and purchase a whole new surround setup.

The Academy is very difficult to find and is also seems to be "in demand".
