Surrounds placement for odd shape room

Just bought my first house and getting ready to move. I'm trying to plan out the family room, but I'm stuck on how to place the surrounds in a 5.1 setup. I've attached an image of the room. The back wall has the walk way to the dining area and kitchen.

I'm thinking the easiest thing to do is buy some speaker stands to place the surrounds behind the couch. Any thoughts on a better way? Is there something I'm missing? My skill level with home theaters is intermediate.

place the surrounds behind the couch.
I would think more in line with "beside" the couch instead of "behind". I would go close to the walls beside the couch. Either speaker stands or wall-mount. Wall-mount may be less susceptible to traffic, especially on the right side of the sofa.
