Hi,

I have recently got an old Sony STR-DE495 reciever for my first HT project.
I intend to output TrueHD as stereo PCM from my computer and use Pro Logic II to put it into surround.
See here http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53025
However reading the instructions, I noticed it said:

"When sound signals with a sampling frequency of 96khz are input, the sound signals are output in stereo automatically, and the sound field is turned off

Does that mean that I can't use Pro Logic II on it as the surround speakers and centre are disabled???

I don't suggest doing this. You would be better off bitstreaming the audio.

Reciever is too old for TrueHD - Use Stereo PCM

The reason for using PCM is as discussed in the linked thread - my reciever is old and as so cannot decode the bitstream. Windvd is going to downmix TrueHD to stereo pcm to be to get around this and then use Pro Logic II to put it back into surround, not lossless, but still sounding better than Dolby Digital or DTS
