Surround Sound Speaker for a HDTV

I own a HDTV model 32LV2500, and I'm looking for a low budget surround sound system. My TV has only an optical output and most of the speaker system with an optical input are too expensive. After search in the web I think I could use the Logitech Speakers Z506 with a decoder from digital to analog, to hook the optical output from the TV to the 6 channels input on the speakers. But I heard that if I do this I won't get real 5.1 sound. I'd would like to know if this is true or not, and what could be the pros and cons for this set up. I'd really appreciate any help with this.

What is your budget? What are you useing for sources, DVD/Bluray- player, Cable box, video game, ect? How do you conect them now HDMI/AV rca, Component? How big is your room?

So you want to plug everything into your tv and then use your tv's opt. out to send that signal to your receiver? Alot of times people will do the opposite, plug everything into our receiver then run 1 hdmi to your tv, and use your receiver to switch devices...

Answer these questions and someone here will figure this rite out for you, welcome to Audioholics...

Heres something to start with, if it fits your budget...

This avr has an Optical Input... http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/ONKTXSR309/Onkyo-TX-SR309-5.1-Channel-3-D-Ready-Home-Theater-Receiver/1.html

Then these speakers sound good for the money.. http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/features/544351896

And this sub is a lot for the money.. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=300-629

That will be under $450 for a receiver, 5 channel speaker set with towers, and a powered 12" sub... Good for a medium sized room, home theater/music system... You will need speaker wire {100ft for under $20} and an opt cable {mediabridge $7}....

If your budget is under $400 this has opt in. http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/DENS302/DENON-S-302-DVD-Home-Theater-System/1.html Kind of small but originally these were over $1000

This the cheapest basic home theater all in one box system I would recommend - http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/ONKHTS3500/Onkyo-HT-S3500-5.1-Channel-Home-Theater-Package/1.html

If your budget is under $200 this is the last one they have of these... http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/ONKHTX22HDX/Onkyo-HTX-22HDX-Ultra-Compact-HD-Home-Theater-System/1.html has opt input..
