Surround Sound Dilemma

This is a professional sketch of my living room layout lol jk. My dilemma is where to place the Right Surround speaker(left side on the pic) being that the Love Seat right against both walls. Is it possible for me to be able to place a speaker so there is a right side effect when you are sitting in the love seat and if so...how? I'm new to this.

Looks like you are doing a 5.1 system. Int his particular case, I think you have two options:

1. Bipole Surrounds in or on the the back wall.
2. Bipole or even Dipole Surrounds in the ceiling near the back wall.

Let me see if I can explain my understanding of how I think a surround sound speaker should be placed. Remember I'm still new to this. When it comes to speaker placement I have always seen diagrams of one seating position or 2 seats but in a perfect room. When it comes to the SR/SL... of course thats where they are at on the right/left of the main seating position. But in my session were it's a L shape sitting set up I'm not sure how the sound would hit the person or people ears who are sitting on the love seat. Because the way I'm looking at is that sound should hit both ears and not just 1. And if I put speakers on the R/L side of the couch that means the love seat will have only 1 speaker on 1 side of it. And I don't understand how that would work. I'm going for a 5.1.2 setup and in wall or in ceiling speakers.

I dont see a picture. How close will you be to both the left and right surrounds? For atmos to work properly you need the surrounds mounted low. If you have to go inceilings for both I think I would avoid atmos. Your avr will adjust the volumes and the distance timing so the sound "should" reach your ears at the same time, but depending on how close you actually are to those speakers that may or my not work as intended.

I can’t see a picture either. Says source cannot be found...
But fwiw you will hear the right surround in your left ear and vice versa. Your hearing isn’t only line of sight so what you actually hear is a combination of the source sound(s), and the room your in. The brain uses timing and reflections to “see” where sounds are.

The site was down for maintenance. Here is the link again and here is actual pic of the sitting. My focus is more on the love seat. Because that seat isn't facing the TV it's facing the kitchen. So there would only one speaker hitting one side of the person head.

Well there are a few things. It’s a very narrow space, and that is difficult to get good coverage for many seats. Especially one that’s tight to the wall. Depending on how often someone is in the love seat, I’d personally not focus on that too much and if you want to demo something, then let someone else have the sweet spot. If you regularly have people in that seat then maybe in wall bipole surrounds in their regular locations, or just slightly higher. Don’t go too high though because it’s necessary to maintain good distance between the bed channel speakers and the Atmos speakers above.

No demo and no in-wall or in-ceiling speakers at this time. The Atmos speakers I was gonna place over the front left and right speakers wall mounted angle downward towards the listening position.....my ceiling is 10ft high. Yeah I think I'm just gonna have to just take it for what it is and say that seat goes to last 2 people to sit down lol

Welcome to AH:)

Yes, the way your seating is you don't have good choices at all, unfortunately.

Could the love seat be pushed closer to the entertainment center all? If you could center the main couch you would be much better off.

Lol. That’s what I’d do too. In my house, I’m the only one who REALLY cares so it’s easy.
