Greetings...
I have re set up my HT system and am trying to remember how I got a particular setting on my receiver. Before, I had digital co-ax for sound and composite for video from my dvd player. Now I am using HDMI from the dvd to the receiver.

The receiver used to show Dolby Digital on the display when watching a movie and it seemed that the sound was richer and louder; now the receiver never changes from Pro Logic II: Music (I think I read this sounded a bit better than the Pro Logic II: Movie setting). Am I just crazy, is this the optimal setup or am I missing a setting going from co-ax to HDMI.

I have set up all my menus in the receiver to auto detect the incoming signals, let me know if I am missing something or if I'm already on the best decoder.

Thanks for you help.

Check the EXTENDED SURROUND parameter in the sound menu, see pg 92.

Sounds like a settings problem to me. Maybe your dvd player got resest somehow. Go through your settings and make sure everything is setup correctly again.

Do realize that many older shows are actually in stereo? So make sure you test with a newer movie.
