Surounds - direct-radiating or diffuse

I've gone through several months of threads and haven't seen this question posted, so please forgive me if I'm beating a dead horse. I've purchased a pair of Boston Accoustics VRX surounds. I believe you would discribe these as a di-polar design, with a woofer and tweeter on one side and a passive radiator and tweeter on the other. They can be used as direct-radiating or diffuse-field surrounds Depending on which direction that you mount them. Because of the room design I'll mounting them about 3 feet from the back wall and about 8 feet high in a room where the ceiling slopes from 10'-12' L to R. My question is whick will sound better. Use will be 80% video, 20% DVD-A and SACD. I play CDs in stereo.

SVS recommends PB12-Plus/2 with one port blocked and that I place it in a rear corner of the room. I'm all for it but due to space restrictions I'm thinking of using it as an end table. I'd be grateful for any feedback or suggestions. I've attached a drawing to make this easier.

Your layout looks good. Nothing wrong with using the sub as an end table. I would be inclined to point the direct side of the surround to the rear for a more diffuse effect.
