Lets see, I have 2 areas in my home with 2 TV's with satellite receivers and DVD players. The third is the HT room with TV and equipment. The 4th room has 2 active laptops. All 4 rooms have MONSTER surge protector power strips. Our ranch home was built in 1963 or 40 years ago.

We live in an area of town where some homes were built in the 60's and later, with a near area with homes built in the 40's and later. The area is mainly covered with telephone poles with mounted transformers. There are a lot of squirrels in our immediate area plus yearly rain/lightening storms.

We have lived in our location for 20 years with power failures every year. Outages can last for 2 hours. There have been sudden interruptions and electricity comes back on, too. These MONSTER Surge Protector power strips have kept the electronic equipment SAFE, for numerous years.

The HT room surge protector strip is an 8 outlet with 2100 joules. The other 3 are 1200 joules. This is to say, I have good protection with Monster, over the years.

Still, if your own home, I'd go whole home surge device....and the Monsters have limited life.

I’ve had 4 through the years 2 slowly just went nuts and the 2 left are older units that have saved this rig a few times and always reset ok so far but how many bangs can them two take I am looking to get something a little more newer in tech .
