suggestions for amp/receiver for garage speakers!

Hey, I'm really new to all this stuff and I'm wondering what to do. I have 6 in-ceiling speakers and 2 outside speakers @ 160 watts peak. They're 8 ohm speakers. I plan on putting in a sub as well, probably powered. Any suggestions as to what to use to power this up? Length of run isn't much, at the most 50 feet. I would like to be around $500ish but I was told by one guy to get an impedance matching speaker selector as well so whatever I have to do then I will obviously. This will be mostly for music but would like the capability to have a t.v hooked into it.

As I said I'm very new so I'll probably be asking questions!
Thanks

My initial reflex is to suggest a beat-up old receiver or integrated amp from a yard sale, thrift store, or junk pile. But your garage may actually have a floor... that's painted? Perhaps a now-obsolete non-HDMI Dolby Digital/DTS AV receiver. That makes it easy to add a sub since it has bass management and the .1 output. You can upgrade to surround sound later with more speakers. Some receivers allow using unused speaker channels for a second zone, or doing a form of biamping which would give you two lefts and two rights, to feed two sets of speakers. Shouldn't cost more than $100.

Yeah this so called garage is more of a man cave than anything. there's ceramics going around the bar lol. It is heated so I'm not worrying about that part either. I'm thinking now about either a harmon kardon 3490 or the marantz sr4023 and use an impedance matching speaker selector. This is what i'm told is a good option. It is a little pricier than i wanted but what do you think?good?
