Suggestion for mounting center speaker

Getting an LSA LCR center speaker and it’s going to be bigger than I’d initially realized, to the tune of 35lbs and 22''w x 14 ½”d x 9''h! Trying to figure out how to best mount it since it can't sit on the lip of my mantel.

I’m thinking of using L-brackets screwed to the front face of the mantel, then placing the speaker's cradle on the L-bracket and screwing into it from the bottom so it can’t get knocked off. Then the speaker would simply rest in the cradle.

Got any other suggestions? My worry is that the horizontal piece of the L-bracket that sticks out will have to be quite long due to the 15”depth of the speaker, and therefore the 35lb weight might cause it to sag…

I mounted my 340se center with a pair of these... Amazon.com: Hangman Products SFT-5-2 5-Inch Softy Mirror and Picture Hanger, Aluminum, 2-Pack: Home Improvement

I cut them to fit the length of the speaker, mounted one to the back of the speaker the other to the wall {has a built in level} and hung it, has been there for a year and works great... I have done this a few times now, mine is also over the mantle under the TV, it sits about an inch off the mantle and an inch under the tv looks much nicer then sitting on the mantle since it sticks off the wall more than the mantle... them are easily strong enough to hold your center...

One more note I used http://www.amazon.com/Self-Adhesive-Rubber-Large-Square-Bumpers/dp/B003CILAMY/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1377134671&sr=8-12&keywords=sticky+rubber+pads on the lower back of the speaker so the wood didnt touch the wall and it held the speaker perfectly off the wall so it was not leaning forward...

Nice idea! But to be clear -- you have to screw the piece into the back of the speaker, yes? Not sure I'm ready to commit to that!

C'mon, be a man, you are going to drill into your house with ugly L brackets but won't drill a speaker, lol... Take a deep breath it will be fine... Do it rite, I marked everything with chalk pen first, measured it all out very precisely before I drilled, then I got my drill bit, put a peace of tap on the bit so I didn't predrill the hole too deep, then used some very nice stainless steel screws with ss washers, I put thick electric tape on the back of the mount {adds a tiny bit of cushion and stops the metal from touching the wood} {they sell the 2" electric tape at the depot}...

If you ever remove the mount, all you have is a couple holes that you fill with the screws... Its the back of the speaker... I did my buddies Ascend Horizon and that was also a $1550 center channel...

I guess you could do it with 3m double sided tape but I wouldnt....

Here is a non drill method for you...

Take your center mount they give you {that curved bottom piece} and the hangers I linked to you to a local machine shop and have them make you an L bracket out of sheet aluminum, so that hangs on the wall and the speaker sits on it, I know local guys around here would only charge around $60 to do something like that, I would do it myself but I have a machine shop, Im sure you can find someone unless you weld and fabricate then its even cheaper...
